Object Information Imaging Details |

17th magnitude Comet 17P/Holmes erupted dramatically on October 24, 2007. It's brightness increased about half a million times yielding a magnitude 3 'star' that was clearly visible by naked eye in Perseus. Viewed through my 16" dob, the comet appeared to be several arc-minutes in diameter and had a small, bright core. This image was taken on Octover 24, 2007 from my front yard. Skies were completely transparent; seeing was moderate. |
