Object Information Imaging Details |

Comet Holmes continued to expand following its eruption in late October. A tail formed in early November which disconnected around November 6. Remnants of the tail are visible in this shot. This image is the result of a collaboration between Dave Dockery and myself. Dave took longer exposures through a slightly larger and faster telescope. I took shorter exposures to try to capture some detail in the head of the comet. This image was acquired at ASLC's Upham dark sky site. Transparency and seeing were good. Clicking the above image will bring up a higher resolution image. |
