M20 - The Trifid Nebula (imaged from Fort Davis, TX) |
Object Information Imaging Details |
The Trifid Nebula (M20) shows both reflection and emission nebulosity in addition to dark dust lanes. It is one of the most photogenic objects in the night sky with its shades of red, magenta and blue. This image was cropped from the larger image of M8 and M20, and shows the detail possible with the Hyperstar system. M20 is visible with binoculars, but it takes a telescope of at least moderate aperture to see much detail. Larger apertures really bring out the splendor of the nebula. Clicking the above image will bring up a higher resolution image. |
