A Conjunction of Mercury and Venus (21May2020) |

Object Information Imaging Details |
||
Conjunctions occur when two celestial bodies appear aligned from our perspective on Earth. Such an alignment occured between Mercury and Venus on the evenings of May 21-22, 2020. The planets passed within 1° of each other. The image (above) was captured with an Orion ED80 Telescope and a Canon T2i camera (prime focus). The planets were 1.04° apart when the image was captured. I captured the image from the west side of the Mesilla Valley Mall. The sky was crystal clear, but there was some wind from the WNW. Clicking on the image above will bring up a 50% scale image. |
