Venus and the Crescent Moon (imaged from Las Cruces) |

Object Information Imaging Details |
||
The crescent Moon moves past Venus almost every month, but due to the respective deviations of the two bodies from the ecliptic, it is rare to have the two objects be very close to one another. However, an exceptionally close pass occured on May 19 (2007). Venus and the Moon passed within a degree of one another. This image is a composite of two shots - one taken to capture the Earthglow and a shorter one to capture detail on the lunar surface. The result looks a lot like the view through the eyepiece of my ED80. |
