NGC 891 and Friends (imaged at the Okie-Tex SP) |

Object Information Imaging Details |

2013 Okie-Tex saw more imaging with my 'new' (to me) Stellarview 115 triplet. It's a sweet scope, and I'm getting some bangin' good images with it. Here's the region near NGC 891. The image includes scores (possibly hundreds) of dim little galaxies - members of the Perseus-Pisces supercluster - as well as the galaxy cluster Abell 347. This region is in the constellation Andromeda, very close to the border with Perseus. NGC 891 is about 30 million light-years distant, and part of the NGC 1023 group (NGC 1023 lies outside of the field of view of this image). Most of the other galaxies in the image (including the cluster) lie about 240M light-years distant. Clicking the above image will bring up an image with a higher resolution and a considerably wider field of view. |
